Prayer and Relationships

Whether you and your other half is succeeding as a couple or failing miserably, your life can be affected by not having a close relationship with God. I'm not talking about one on one I'm talking two on one. You and your other half with God. Put yourself in God's place. If you knew of a couple but didn't really know them, because they never stopped by together, their relationship might not be that big a deal to you. However if you this couple had become friends with you, but spending time with you, sharing their joys and concerns and their lives in general, you would care much more. You would want what was best for the couple. If they either by themselves or together only stopped by from time to time to ask you to help them with something they would be that annoying couple. But if they had created a genuine friendship with you then you would truly care about the outcome of their relationship. However it's a bad idea to try to build a relationship with anyone, because you feel obligated to spend time with them. The only way to build a relationship is to be truly interested in the person. If you truly want to know somebody and about who they are, then you can develop a relationship. If not than you are likely to get bored and fail. Just like High School when you had that subject, you know your favorite subject that you were always able to do well in. The reason you did well was because you were truly interested in it, so you were ready and willing to learn about it and it became a part of you. Once something becomes a part of you the only way to get rid of it is to replace it with something with more value to you. Some times we have something that we value, yet it isn't something productive, it brings us negatively, yet we feel the need to keep it around because their is something about it we like. Things like this may hold us back from letting the good things, the better things into our lives. I'm not going to give an example, because this can be true in so many ways about so many things that each of us will have something different brought forward into our minds that we know is a part of our lives that we need to get rid of. Once we are willing to rid ourselves of negatives and get comfortable with ourselves and our other half, we will be able to build a true relationship with God. Only when you are truly ready for this and you are truly curious about God can you begin your journey into his world. The spiritual world. Their is beauty in a Man and a Woman coming together before God. Not just on their wedding day, but before the wedding day and after the wedding day. On a regular basis. It's said, "A couple that prays together stays together." and it is easy to see why that is true. Prayer is one of the most personal things you can share. Most everyone gets nervous when at a gathering and someone asks them to say a blessing. Not just because they have to speak in front of others, but because they have to share what is usually their most secret conversation, in front of others. It is almost as if you are welcoming others into your secret realm and didn't have a chance to clean up before they got their. So as personal as prayer is, for two people to share in it, shows that they are ready to share what lyes behind their eyes, inside their minds spirit and heart. A lot of people have trouble truly being their selves and opening up completely while praying around others. This is understandable, but for a couple to go forward in their relationship, they must be able to do this. It may be helpful to start small, build a spiritual bond of trust, then move up from there. But if you don't lay the cinder blocks for the foundation, their will be nothing to build on. These small steps at the beginning lay a foundation that will allow winds of caious to blow threw you when your home together is finally erect. If the trust and the spiritual bond isn't their, Man and Woman can be blown apart by a small storm. But if they are their, Man and Woman can survive whatever is thrown at them. Sure they might have to rebuild certain parts of their lives together, but they will have something to rebuild them on.
